Where is solar energy stored?

Both photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies depend on the sun. But what about at night, once the sunlight is down however need energy? Can solar power be saved? Below is a description of how storing solar energy for subsequent use.

Storing Photovoltaic Energy

Solar panel systems cannot produce energy at night or during cloudy periods. But rechargeable electric batteries can keep electricity: the photovoltaic panels charge battery pack in the day, and this energy could be attracted upon in the evening.

While battery packs could be costly, in remote places it can often be much more cost effective to use batteries as opposed to expanding an electricity cable towards the grid.

generally, though, purchasing electricity through the grid is less expensive than opting for battery packs.

Solar Thermal Energy Storing

Residential solar hot-water systems – designed to use the sun’s thermal power to heat up water for home – have an easier storage system. Water flows through solar enthusiasts on the top, and would go to a storage container in which it could be attracted upon as needed.

Focusing solar power power(CSP) flowers use thermal power to run a generator. Though some CSP facilities use liquid as the heat transfer medium, many new methods united states oil or molten sodium. These fluids permit the temperature power becoming saved for use during cloudy times or at night.
