Thermal solar power plants
BrightSource energy sources are partnering with General Electrical (GE) and NOY Infrastructure & Energy Investment Fund to construct the 121 MW Ashalim Solar Thermal Power facility in Israel’s Negev desert. GE accounts for the engineering, the procurement together with construction (EPC) for the solar energy section, with BrightSource providing the advanced solar area technology.
The BrightSource-GE-NOY Megalim task is one of three jobs chosen under Israel’s Ashalim 250 megawatt total solar tender. It is located on Plot B and feature BrightSource’s focusing solar powered energy (CSP) tower technology. Above 50, 000 computer-controlled heliostats, or mirrors, that monitor the sun on two axes and reflect sunshine onto a boiler along with a 250-meter tower. Construction is underway together with facility is scheduled is finished in late 2017. Whenever functional, the Ashalim Solar Thermal energy Station will help Israel achieve its aim of having 10 % of its electrical energy manufacturing from green power sources by 2020.
